Hi friend, how are you?
There’s this old saying in psychology / belief / thought process / call it what you will, but it’s been around forever
My mom taught me this when I was about 12, and I recently read a piece on it that made me think
It says that we are to write down what we have done the most of in the past 2 weeks and that is where our focus in life is
For most it will be our jobs, those don’t count
It’s used specifically for tracking these two things
1st: What we do for our physical fitness
2nd: What we do ( study / read ) for our personal growth
If your idea of #1 is just going to the Dr and getting more pills then ummmm…. 🙃
If you recall over Labor Day Weekend I went out on my Stand Up Paddleboard
Well we paddled over 2.5 hours that day, that’s a lot
The next day I thought it would be a great idea to wear my 5lb ( each one ) ankle weights as I marched up and down some hills…
Back got sore, so I did some stretching, toooooooooo much stretching
#Ooouucccchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
So for the past week or so I’ve been doing a lot of light stretching and rehab type of work
That’s where I’m at, getting back to strength
Scary Thought::::::::
Science says it only takes 2 weeks / 14 days / Half of a month to begin losing muscle strength once we stop our fitness / strength routines
It can be built back up though, it just takes longer
For every 2 weeks we lose, we need 3 good weeks right after to get back to even
So all in all, if we are down for 2 weeks, over a 5 week period we made no gains, only pain and rebuild…. Uuhhhgggggggg
Well lucky for me it’s really only been about 10 days / I rehabbed the whole time / and it’s gotten much much better….I’ll be back to wrestling bears any day now!! 🐻❄
I’m going to do this:
I’m going to get my paper and pen out
Then write down on paper / not just in my head / I’m going to take ownership of it and write it out / what has consumed most of my time in the past 2 weeks
And then I’m going to compare it to my personal goals
Are they aligned? If not, why not?
How about you? Have your pen and paper ready?
Invest wisely, live charitably and be well
Brother Bill
