Hi friend, how are you?
Before we even get started I’d like to apologize in advance for my big Italian attitude self and what I’d like to discuss today 🙃
This time tomorrow ( Friday ) I’ll be in a creative arts competition, I’ll be showing my sculpture and sharing the story of the word HOPE
They have multiple categories to compete in
Poetry / Painting / Limericks / ( all limericks are poetry, but not all poems are limericks ) / Short stories / Quilts / Jewelry… All kinds of cool art type of stuff
I’ll be competing in the metal art division which I won last year
Allow me to share what happened at last years competition:::
There was a guy that won his division that a few others and myself were like “What the heck man, are they serious?”
It wasn’t just the fact that the judges just gave him a freebie. It was his actions afterwards..
The crowd favorite was “a little old lady” that made something that was so cool, significant and from the heart that it took her over 90 hours to create
What he won with I could replicate out in my driveway in under 30 minutes
And it would only take me that long if it was night time out / and a volcano erupted / and I was chasing polar bears in the jungle during a hurricane / with a broken leg / and “Sharknado” kicked in / on a Tuesday 😠 😠 😠
His “hook” was his project was something “shiny” and “blingee” if you will
But again it was his whole attitude during it all, he acted about 9,283 times more important than any of us really are in life. And the fact that he didn’t even acknowledge the nice lady he just stole the award from didn’t sit well with me, or anyone else
That guy is my age, shape and size…..
And I wish / I wish / I wishhhh he would simply say hello to me…..
He’s someone my Italian self would seriously like to “have a discussion with”
Throughout my children’s lives, and now my grandchildren’s, I have always told them to never forget these 3 things:
1st: God will never forsake them
2nd: Regardless of anything that ever happens I will always love them
3rd: Life is only 10% of what happens, and 90% of how we react
If I see that guy tomorrow am I going to walk up and say “What’s up punk?” 😠
No, I won’t… It’s not that kind of a day…
And we should always check ourselves before we wreck ourselves
People are going to do things in life that we may not agree with, we might not like, or just plain out make us mad…
~~What they do is on them~~
But how we react, is on us
When we don’t allow situations or people to get the best of us we then become a better version of ourselves, and that my friends, is a great gift to have
