Hi friend, how are you?
When was the last time you found yourself part of a conversation that turned into a learning experience?
I had that just last week, and I’m still thinking about it
It wasn’t planned, just a group of people talking and what came out of it was pure gold for me
A lady, about 47 maybe 50 or so, she shared part of her life journey
She’s published 4 books now, and 1 of them is about her story
Her entire life her parents had been degenerate gamblers
It put their family in a lot of hardships at times
The biggest “hurt” she said that she ever endured from it all was when she found out that it was her own mother that had stolen the purse with all the money in cards given to her and her husband at their wedding reception. A few may try to justify it as the moms gambling addiction, most call it an unfathomable betrayal
In a twist of fate ( slight revenge maybe? ) she went on to become a casino dealer
And a really really good one at that
She became what the casinos call a “House Dealer”
Casinos keep stats on every / single / thing
And she won the tittle of top “House Dealer” 4 months in a row, impressive feat
We all know that saying “The House Always Wins”
And about 90% of the overall time they do
So if a dealer is slow, lets say they deal 20 hands a hour
The casino then only won 19 rounds
But if the dealer is fast and lets say deals 100 hands a hour
The casino just won 90 rounds
They ( the casino, or “The House” ) just made more money
She was sharing that casinos don’t steal your money, they’re legitimate businesses scrutinized by heavy government regulations
But what they do have is “methods” of making you work against yourself
And the speed / time factor is just the start
Do you ever feel that life is moving to fast? That you’re not in control of it or at least not getting all you want from it? Time does move fast doesn’t it???
Heck we’re now into July, halfway thru 2026
Remember 2024? Everyone couldn’t wait to get to 2025
Our new friend is no longer in the casino business. She’s now doing quite well owning and operating her own data transfer business that specializes in B2B transactions
Andddd writing another book, good on her 😃 😉
It’s not hard to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of a busy life these days
And if we let life move to fast, like a “House Dealer”, we may lose out on more than we want too
