The best date ever....

Hi Friend, how are you today?

Have you ever had one of those times you thought something was a SURE thing only to have it go south on a dime?

I have, more than once…….

Years ago I met a great lady thru my hiking club
My age, from the same city as me originally, loved her job helping people
We even had a few mutual friends and both of us loved the outdoors

What could go wrong?

We were past “Lets get coffee” it was time to plan a dinner date
Quite / chill place, off the beaten path

We order drinks, appetizer,. have some laughs, life felt good
Food comes out, I say “let me pray for us”
Prayer has been a part of my life for as long as I’ve known oxygen and triple bacon cheeseburgers 🙃
Not gonna get fancy, just a brief “Thank You Jesus” and dig in

Right there, right then, the second I asked if we could pray, I knew, it was instant and it wasn’t even up for discussion…. She was out…..

She text me later that night thanking me for being a gentleman about it
What really surprised me was her unsolicited explanation, she said that prayer came so natural to me and how she wasn’t even sure if she could even spell God
Scared? Maybe.. An excuse? Possibly

Here’s what I am sure of however, I’d much rather be rejected or even hated for who / what I am, than loved for something I’m not

I’m not capable of trying to be someone other than who I am

We’ve all been there, and we all are going to there again at some point in our lives, someone whom we know, or want to know, isn’t going to be on the same page as us

There are those that will say “I hope that they like me”
And there are those that say “I’ll be okay if they don’t”
The latter isn’t an attitude of arrogance, but a confirmation in ones self

The question becomes when that happens next time, which road will you take?

Invest wisely, live charitably and be well
