Hi friend, how are you?
Have you ever had a dream, a goal, a wish, a want, even a desire, that you understood but maybe others didn’t
Maybe not everyone but some?
You guys know welding metal sculpture art is a passion of mine
About 5 years ago when I started creating my own sculpture garden a long time buddy came over and we were sitting out on my back porch
He wasn’t fond of my sculptures ( maybe he still isn’t IDK … lol )
Admittedly everything I use is made out of repurposed steel
I’ve been dubbed an “Industrial Artist” by more than one person
The older and rustier the materials the better
When I made the word PRAY, and made it so large, it was because I knew that was how it was supposed to be
God woke me in a dream, with a vision, and after that every single nut / bolt / pipe /
chain / gear / wrench / saw blade / washer / socket and everything else was placed where God showed me in the visions that followed… Every time God spoke to me I went to my sketch pad to draw it out
Well back to my buddy, what he said that day, was why did I make it look like I did. I told him it was art. His response was quick, he said when he and his wife think about art that they think about things like Hallmark cards
He also said that the art on them is always perfect
And that when they see art, they like it to be perfect
Judgmental? Unfortunately, and short sighted for sure
Sometimes in life people are going to have different ideas than we do
They may not understand where we are with things, or what we’re doing
And that’s okay, we don’t need others approval to do anything that matters to us
Following our own insights can take “gumption” for some
For some it comes naturally
And some never get to that point for one reason or another
But if it means something to you, if it’s something that’s your dream, your goal, your purpose, your ambition, you should do it, not for anyone else, but for you
Some of you may know that I created then donated this piece up above in the pic to a local charity auction here in KC last month
The auction was a fundraiser to send kids from lower socio economic homes to band camp, then to pay for their instruments also, hence why it’s made out of all of those instruments ( I like the Angel at the top center )
It was a seriously large scale / fun / fun / fun event… It had major corporate sponsors, and got a lot of media coverage
Anyone want to guess who bought my “Heart Art”????
Yepppp you guessed it, a high ranking member from the executive board at Hallmark They bought the heart, think about that, my heart in a Hallmark Valentines movie maybe???? 💘 😁 💘 😁 💘 😁 💘 😁 💘 😁 💘 😁 💘
Close to 800 different people have now been here to my land in the past 5 years to see my metal sculpture art. How do I know the number? Because the photos don’t lie
The local news has been here too, they came and showcased some of my work on live tv twice this year. That led to a Christian music group wanting to come over to make a video
When I started all of this I had no idea how big it would become
I only knew that I was supposed to do it
What ever your dream, your goal, your desire, your ambition is, it’s yours
Don’t ever let anyone, no one, no one ever, tell you that you can’t achieve it
The county I live in is called Johnson County Kansas
There are 20 separate municipalities in the county
Currently I’m in discussions with 2 of them to possibly create sculptures for their parks
I didn’t go to them, they came to me
How many kids my donated heart sculpture sent to band camp IDK
But I’ve heard that the good folks at Hallmark, think it’s “Perfect” 😉 😉 😉
Invest wisely, live charitably and be well
Brother Bill
