Like a broken record





Hi friend, how are you?


Usually I don’t like to piggy back off of a writing with only a week apart but this needs to be said / heard / read 🙃 

It’s no secret that I talk about “The Power of 3” all the time
And when God sends you 3 signals in a row you best be paying attention

Do you remember how I recently I mentioned the “3 ages of change in the human body?”
They’re the 3 ages longevity doctors consider to be crucial to us humans
34, 63 and 79

First::::
Recently I got to hang out one on one with a great guy, retired cardiologist, we sat next to each other on a flight for over 3.5 hours discussing a wide array of topics
When we spoke about why he retired after 37 years and still being able to work this is what he said:: “It was heartbreaking to have my hands tied by the insurance companies as to what kind of care I could provide”
He shared with me not being able to perform necessary procedures or prescribe medications that could not only prolong patients lives, but better them too

The 21K in steps I did this Saturday? You see it up above.. I’m almost embarrassed to share it as my normal step count on a Saturday is usually higher
On a realllyyy good hike I average 37K for the day
I’ll share that next time we do one

Second::::
This past Saturday I did a “walk and talk” with a retired pharmacist in a group hike
She retired early also
And she had this to say: “If the American people actually knew how much big pharma lies about the drugs they take there’d be a revolution” Maybe, or maybe some people aren’t worried about putting plastic into their bodies
She’s not the 1st pharmacist I’ve heard say that, that seems to be a common theme with them

Third:::
Back to the 34, 63 and 79
Yesterday I saw a video, the man was approaching 90
He talked about what he would tell his 60 y/o self if he could

He broke it down to 5 parts
One was about health
He said THE EXACT SAME THING I TALK ABOUT ALL OF THE TIME

He talked about the importance of strength training, lifting weights at the age of 60 and beyond, walking and stretching
YOU WILL NOT GET BIG AND BULKY… lol…..
Male or Female
Strength training does more than just strengthen your muscles, it also strengthens your bones, your ligaments too… Bones don’t just all of sudden get brittle as we age, they weaken as the muscles around them are used less

He also talked about seeing friends after they turned 70 and how he could tell the difference between those who worked out during their 60’s and those that didn’t
That spoke to me, deeply

Do you know “The Floor Test?
You really should try it
Lay down on your living room floor
Nothing, ZERO around you, no chair, no couch, no coffee table, ZERO
Lay flat on your back
Can you get back up fully on your 2 feet unassisted and standing upright in under 15 seconds?
Under 10 seconds? Under 5? Anything over 15 seconds is not good

This Saturday some members of my hiking club and I aren’t hitting the trail, but going to a 2 hour workshop focusing on deep stretching and long term controlled breathing techniques… Wim Hof anyone? 🙂
