Do you ever watch the show “The Antiques Roadshow”??
I do sometimes, have for years
Hard for me to say my favorite episode but I do have a Top 10
If you watch it, which is your favorite?
One of my Top 10 was a woman, she brought some kind of painting that had been in her family
She was mid 40s, a widow, single mom, then her mom died
She was working, raising her kids alone, back in school
That’s a lot, a whole lot
The appraiser was asking her some questions, she then said she was hoping it would appraise around $3,500.00 - $5,000.00, then sell it so she could continue with school
She said she needed that for her education, so she could get a better job, then offer a better life for her kids
The painting, it then appraised for over $45,000.00
She cried, I mean as in big time, let it all out, practically fall on the floor crying, couldn’t believe her luck had changed
To say that it was a “Real Good Feel Good” is putting it mildly
It’s hard not to root for her and others like her
But unfortunately in life there are people out there that may not want to see you fail, but they certainly don’t ever want to see you do better than them
I’ve shared a few times that over the past couple of years I’ve reduced or cut those kind of people out of my life. And my only regret is that I wish I had done it sooner
Later today I’ll be hosting some long time friends for some of my world famous bbq and painting 🎨
One thing that I LUVVVVVVV about Dad, Mom and all 3 kids is their level of gratitude. Those people don’t know any other way in life to be other than thankful all day for everything. And they are “cheerleaders” too
They’re the kind of people that not only want to hear how you are, but rather than try to compare it to something they’re doing, they focus on encouraging you for your success
We all can use more friends like that, but more importantly, we all could take a cue and try to be that way for others in our own lives
