Hi friend, how are you today?
When was the last time that you were doing something / it started to go south / then you said to yourself “STOP” just STOP?
That was me just last night
I went to a buddies house to pick something up
He and his family have a beautiful home
They also have a horrible / narrow / tight turning / narrow / no room to turn / narrow / driveway 😠
When I went to back down his driveway the back left tire on my truck went over the 18 inch tall retaining wall… I tried driving back up / nope / put it in 4WD / still nope
Shut the truck off / took a deep breath and got out of the truck
Not only was the truck one tire off the road but it was now sideways also
Option #1: Back the truck off the driveway / over the retaining wall / and land in the yard then drive out
Option #2: Open my door / back up to the wall while watching the ground / then navigate out and back up unto the driveway
Option #1 would of been the fastest and easiest / But at the risk of knocking over my buddies brick wall / And not to mention the possible damage that I could of done to my truck / Like pop a tire / tear off the rear differential / smash the transmission / or just rip the oil pan right off if I “high centered”
I went with Option #2
Neuroscience calls that kind of decision making “Cognitive Control”
What C.C. means is when you’re in a “situation” how does your thought process at that moment align with your internal goals / objectives.. It also means bc you’re in a “situation” and you’re still able to over ride “obstacles” for a favorable outcome
Trust me, just trust me, I’ve been on the opposite end of that more times in my life than I could ever count……
Not everything in life is within our control
Sometimes we can do the right thing / have the best intentions / well layed out plan / and things can still go south
When we find ourselves in a “situation” sometimes taking a step back to look for Option #2 might be our best idea yet

They DON’T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😠
They live on a big giant corner lot / They drive thru the yard on the other side then drive around the house and out unto the other street!!!!!!!! 😠 🤣 😠 🤣
